Easy method to limit connections in Wowza Media Server

I was trying to figure out a way to limit the end users to my Wowza Media Server and I found an easy method to limit the users to access the streams. There are two methods to limit the end users, one is limiting end users to an application using addons and the other is limiting end users to wowza media server. Here I’m talking about limiting end users to the Wowza Media Server.

Here I had install Wowza in Linux operating system.

Home directory of wowza media server is ” /usr/local/WowzaMediaServer”

Go to configuration directory and edit the VHosts.xml file

cd /usr/local/WowzaMediaServer/conf

vim VHosts.xml

<Root>
<VHosts>
<VHost>
<Name>_defaultVHost_</Name>
<ConfigDir>${com.wowza.wms.ConfigHome}</ConfigDir>
<ConnectionLimit>1000</ConnectionLimit>
</VHost>
</VHosts>
</Root>

There is a parameter called “ConnectionLimit”, which allows you to limit the end users.  Here I limited to 1000 end users. Now restart the wowza media server and start your streaming 🙂
